Famore Cutlery presents h+h americas Cosplay Fashion Show Competition and Exhibition

We are thrilled to welcome you to the Famore Cutlery presents h+h americas first annual Cosplay Fashion Show Competition. h+h americas is where creativity meets business, and cosplay is a significant part of the crafting segment.

We recognize the crucial role played by cosplay designers as creators within the crafting community. These multi-media artists are essential artisans who invest in a wide range of products to bring their imaginative garments to life, holding a vital position in the industry. And where do these talented designers acquire the tools of their trade? From stores and companies like yours that provide the essential materials that fuel their imagination!

Through our commitment to understanding and serving the needs of these passionate creators and with the generous support of our sponsors (Famore Cutlery, Oliso, Janome, WonderFil Specialty Threads, Shannon Fabrics, FanPowered Press, Universal Yarns, Hobbs Bonded Fibers, and Pauline’s Quilters World), we have the privilege of bringing this spectacular competition to life, showcasing the boundless ingenuity and innovation of the cosplay community.

So, let us embark on this exhilarating journey together as we celebrate the artistry, talent, and passion of the cosplay designers who have joined us today. Contestants will compete in five categories for over $10,000 in cash and products from our supporting sponsors.

Join us on the Main Stage on Thursday, May 2, from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm for the Famore Cutlery presents h+h americas first annual Cosplay Fashion Show Competition. ‘Empress Palpatine,' original design based on Star Wars

Diana 'Binkxy’ Tolin

Empress Palpatine is a Tudor inspired re-imagining of Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars. This costume was created as an homage to the character and the time period and is festooned with details and ‘Easter eggs’ for those who are fans of the franchise. Empress Palpatine was completed in 2022 in time for Star Wars Celebration, where it was worn to meet the actor who played Palpatine, Ian McDiarmid, and then took part in the WonderCon Cosplay Contest in 2023, winning Best in Show for its craftsmanship and accompanying performance.

EV Cosplay

The ball gown dress is self-patterned and constructed from matte satin with broadcloth details. The bodice is boned, lined, and laces up the back with a modesty panel. The overskirt is gathered with a scalloped hem. The hat is mainly matte satin, interfacing, and organza, with matte satin roses with a felt backing. The petticoats are a combination of broadcloth, scalloped and pleated, as well as tulle. I constructed a corset using canvas, matte satin, spiral steel boning, embroidery thread, and a steel busk. The undergarments are made from broadcloth with lace trimmings.

Justine Y. (Weeb Next Door)

A magical witch comes to life in this marriage of flowy circle-cut fabric and hand-gathered ruffles. The tiers of the skirt are finished with heat-sealed organza scallops, held up by a lightweight cage hoop skirt. The roses are interfaced chiffon formed with heat and paired with velvet accents. Topped off with a batting-structured pill box hat with hand cut and handsewn trims.

Art Nouveau Rose Quartz

Lori L. (Scissor Wizard Cosplay)

To mimic the ethereal look of the art nouveau design for Rose Quartz, a flowing bodre fabric was selected. Multiple structural techniques, including an open cage hoop skirt, petticoats in between layers and custom drafted corset were utilized to support the structure of the design– especially under the weight of the flower embellishments and thousands of hand placed rhinestones. Elements from the beads adorning the crown, to the wig, down to the shoes, and including every layer of the bodre fabric have been gradient dyed. The design consists of 9 separate layers and when twirling the skirt flutters out like rose petals.

Madison L. (Maddog)

This cosplay took over 600hrs to make and features a wide-range of techniques including patterning, textile making, embroidery, foamsmithing, and fabric painting. The chainmail tunic alone took 175hrs and was hand-weaved with real metal rings. EVA foam was textured and painted to look like leather – and is in fact the same material used to make the sword. To finish it all off, the costume was weathered with paint and real dirt to feel like this knight has truly been adventuring in the wild.

The Legend of Vox Machina

Valerie M.

The Victorian-inspired gothic look of the animated character is translated into real-life texture and detail in velvet and silk. The elegant silhouette is supported by historically appropriate undergarments, and the dramatic sleeves, waterfall draping, and sweeping skirt are borrowed from the early 1890s. And a closer look at the embroidery design might give you a clue to just what kind of magic Delilah practices…

This gown is inspired by historical figure Marie Antoinette, as well as the anime which she’s featured: The Rose of Versailles. 1920s Inspired Loki

Taylor B. (Taylor Rose)

My costume portrays Loki, the age-old trickster, gender-bent in the 1920s. I took inspiration from skull caps, Poiret’s cocoon coats, and other silhouettes from the era. All components are made by me, with the exception of shoes, furs, and necklace (all thrifted and vintage pieces). I used vintage reproductions of 1920s patterns to sew these garments and tried to follow historically accurate techniques whenever possible.
