Princess Serenity from Sailor Moon

Emilysewsner (Emily)

I started cosplaying to build a portfolio for school and it ended up becoming a more permanent hobby. Graduated The Theatre School at DePaul Univeristy class of 2021 with a BFA in Costume Technology. Currently working full time as a stitcher/craftsperson for Marriott Theatre.

Makers name: Emily Sanner

Made with polyester satin, chiffon, cotton twill, jersey knit, tulle, assorted trims, and beading. (Cricut vinyl details to be added soon)

Patterned and constructed by me.

This cosplay in particular allowed me a lot of creative freedom in the design process. The base dress is a simple princess line bodice with puff sleeves and full circle skirt made with layers of satin and chiffon. The bodice has an additional layer of cotton twill for structure as well as support for the rigiline boning. The sleeves have a layer of tulle for shaping and an inner sleeve made of jersey knit for comfort and movement.

Most die hard fans of the Sailor Moon franchise will recognize this dress as long as it has a few of its signature details, such as the iconic gold circles along the bust of the dress, but how it’s presented is entirely up to the cosplayer. I was able to take this iconic look and put my own twist to it to make a one of a kind cosplay.
